Two of those institutions are central to our purpose: Museum Elmina, our sister heritage organisation, and the Michael Kunke Foundation, whose work in community development and cultural preservation runs alongside everything we do.

Museum Elmina

Museum Elmina is the scholarly and archival institution curating and preserving Elmina's cultural and historical heritage, from precolonial Fante civilisation through the Portuguese and Dutch colonial periods, the Transatlantic Slave Trade, and into contemporary Ghana, with the rigour and authority of a dedicated academic institution.
Where Brand Elmina is the experience and storytelling arm, activational, audience-facing, and tourism-driven. Museum Elmina is the permanent, scholarly foundation on which those experiences are built. All research work for Brand Elmina is handled through Museum Elmina.

The Michael Kunke Foundation works at the intersection of cultural preservation, community development, and heritage education in Elmina and the wider Central Region. Its work ensures that the people who are the living custodians of Elmina's heritage, including its families, its youth, its craftspeople and fishermen, have the support and resources to continue that custodianship.
